Stars are earned, never bought
You earn every Star by sharing information. It's free at every level, and paying for a plan never moves your Star.
Search stays fair
Results rank by relevance, with a small boost for earned Stars. Paid plans don't change your place in search.

What donors see when you earn a Star
Your Star appears next to your name in search results and on your profile. Higher Stars unlock sections for programs, revenue sources, goals and measurable results.
You also get a badge for your website and donation pages. It links back to your profile, so donors can check it.

Questions
Is it really free to get a Star?
Yes. Every Star from Verified to Platinum is free. You earn each one by sharing information. Membership plans add optional tools such as donate buttons, analytics and grant alerts.
Will paying for a plan help us rank higher?
No. Search ranks by how well you match what someone searched for, with a small boost for earned Stars. Premier "Spotlight" placements always carry a Sponsored label and never appear inside search results.
How do you verify our organization?
We match your EIN to IRS records and confirm that the person claiming the profile works there. An email at your organization's website domain is the fastest way through. Otherwise we may ask for a letter on your letterhead or a recent board minute.
Where does the rest of the profile data come from?
From the IRS Exempt Organizations Business Master File, which we refresh monthly. Information you add is shown alongside it and labeled as provided by your organization.
Do Stars expire?
Stars stay current as long as you review your profile once a year. Platinum needs updated results each year.
